Complementary panels

They pin down what the sign above them means: distance, length, times or which vehicles are affected.

S-800 · Distance to where the hazard or rule begins
Gives the distance from the sign to the point where the hazard begins or its rule starts to apply. Fitted under the sign warning of a narrowing carriageway, it may instead give the free width of that narrowing.

Gives the length over which the hazard exists or the rule applies.

S-820 · Extent of the prohibition, on one side
Fitted under a prohibition sign, gives the distance over which that prohibition applies in the direction of the arrow.
